Rachel Talks Myofascial Release
In most cases, my style is slow, nurturing and deep.
Instead of bulldozing through muscles, causing unnecessary pain and trauma, I utilize the principles of Craniosacral Therapy to recruit the help of your body’s wisdom and let it drive my work. I use my hands to feel for the cranial rhythm while applying Myofascial Release, a slow and deep type of massage that frees areas of restricted fascia, commonly known as “knots,” while also recruiting the help of the nervous system to make that release of tension last.
When your rhythm stops, it alerts me that we are working with a significant area at an appropriate level of depth, and that your body is ready to heal that area. I will pause my stroke and wait for your body to do its work. Improved fluid flow, pain relief, heat, twitching or emotional release often occur at this point.
Unlike a typical massage, I travel through the body in an unscripted manner, using my touch to dialogue between areas of fascia that, on the surface may seem unconnected. I regularly integrate the principles of acupuncture, reflexology and lymphatic drainage as your body directs me.
I am also qualified to work with special populations such as children, pregnant women, and the elderly.
